Bradford Implements Machine Monitoring

Increasing Machine Utilization helps our Customers

In December 2019, Bradford began implementing Machine Monitoring, variously referred to in the same breath as IoT (Internet of Things) or OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

Machine Monitoring at Bradford means accessing and collecting real time data from the machining centers and using it in a meaningful way to measure and drive improvement in machine utilization. Areas for improvement are identified in shop floor practices, such as set up reduction, in preventive maintenance plans, such as routine tasks to be performed to prepare for extended periods of lights out operation.

In January, the first four machines being monitored were in cycle 91.6% of the month when measured on 24 hour days, 7 days per week. And we can do better.

For our customers this means lower cost and quicker response to changes in demand.
